If we want to learn from each other, we have to be able to talk to each other. We've chosen a few tech tools that will help us create community and support each other in trying new cool things in our classrooms.

WHAT'S IN OUR DIGITAL TOOLBOX?
Slack
Slack is perfect for the kind of team collaboration we are testing out with these Experiences. You will receive an invitation via email to join a Slack workspace. This workspace is divided up into smaller collaboration areas called "channels" - each Experience has one channel. Make sure you join your Experience channel (here is a short video of how to do so). One of the things we would like feedback on is how a highly collaborative environment impacts teacher PD. So please be an active member of your own Experience slack channel (feel free to visit the other channels as well) and share photos and videos from your classroom, reflections, questions, ideas, feedback, and requests in real time with other educators going through this Experience with you. This is your tribe-- talk to them! Make sure you download the slack app on your phone so that you can give real time updates on what's happening in your classroom. |
FlipGrid
Flipgrid is a cool video discussion tool for connection. In each Experience we ask you to use flipgrid to capture the "on fireness" happening in your classroom. We already set up the grids for you (the grids are videos that now await your group's responses). All you would have to do is add your responses to each grid, and spark a conversation with the other teachers going through your experience. All you need is access to a phone or a computer that has a built in camera. It's so much fun to actually see your tribe, see people's eyes light up as they tell you the stories from their classrooms. |
Twitter
Twitter is not just for Kardashians! Tens of thousands of educators are on Twitter-- sharing resources and ideas, supporting each other, and building networks. Use Twitter to broadcast to the world the cool things you are doing in your classroom with your Experience. Each Experience has a twitter hashtag which, when added to your message, will help you keep track of everything that other teachers are sharing with the world in relation to the Experience. Feel free to share the stories of learning from you AND from your students: your students could compose 140 character messages that you could post on Twitter for them. |
Participate
By the end of one of these experiences, you are going to have some awesome work to show off. Use Participate collections to create a portfolio that you can share far and wide. Use our Participate chats to participate in Twitter in a more streamlined and user-friendly way. Our tool automatically pulls resources that chat participants share. |
