Through a process of experiential learning, we invite you to ignite learning in your classroom and engage your students in intentionally designed experiences to both “feel and do” empathy.
Before you set out on your On Fire Experience with your students, here is information for you as the teacher in your roles as co-learner and co-experiencer.

In creating this Spark and these On Fire Experiences, we were inspired by:
EmpathyWe believe the best way to inspire empathy is through shared experience that invites active listening, perspective taking, and open and safe dialogue, and that cultivates a mindset of feeling with as opposed to feeling for. As empathy is at the core of each of the three On Fire Experiences in this Spark, we invite you as the teacher and guide of the Experience to also immerse yourself in social-emotional learning in your own process of self-discovery.

Each Experience in this Spark will follow the 3 phases of Inspiration, Ideation and Implementation. Note: the majority of your time will be in the Inspiration Phase. |
Co-Working SpacesEach Co-working spaces are shared work spaces for businesses. Individual businesses, oftentimes small organizations, nonprofits, or startups, rent space within the shared area, and all use community resources, including meeting rooms, lounge areas, private work spaces, and visible thinking wall spaces. These types of environments model the idea that shared experiences are not universal experiences, and they leverage concepts such as flexibility and fluidity in levels of interaction, energized engagements, design thinking frameworks, and collaboration.
Often, individuals in a co-working space are indirectly part of a learning/work experience simply by being witness to a co-worker’s work process. This fluidity and flexibility in levels of interaction is the exact ignitor for learning we are hoping to bring into our On Fire Experiences.
